The first major snow storm of 2018 roared into the high Andes of Chile and Argentina this week. Accompanied by high winds, exact snowfall totals are sketchy but depending on the resort, we are giving it a conservative estimate of 1-2 feet and significant drifts. Las Lenas, Argentina and Portillo, Chile seem to have received the deepest totals.
The 2018 ski season in South America starts in later June. Here is a collection of images we have put together from the storm.
Portillo's famous outdoor heated pool and the beautiful Inca Lagoon at 9,360 feet above the Pacific.
Not a bad way to end the month of May here in Portillo. 3 more weeks until ski season.
Valle Nevado also received a good dose of Andean cold smoke powder.
