From The Vancouver Sun:
An Alberta man is dead after an avalanche hit a group of skiers in B.C.’s Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park on Sunday.
The avalanche occurred around 12:30 p.m., said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk on Sunday night.
The man, who was with a group of 15 adult skiers from both B.C. and Alberta, was buried by the slide in the park, located 34 km northeast of Nelson.
He was retrieved by com-panions within five minutes, and a physician among the group administered CPR, but the victim was unresponsive and had suffered life-threatening injuries, Moskaluk said...
..Meanwhile, two backcountry skiers were killed in an avalanche in an Alberta provincial park near the B.C. border, police said Sunday.
The two men, believed to be in their mid-40s, were caught in the snow slide just before 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Burstall Pass area of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, about 100 kilometres southwest of Calgary.
Three witnesses contacted authorities, and Kananaskis Public Safety used a helicopter and a dog team to search the slide area, said the RCMP’s Doris Stapleton. The bodies were recovered, she said.
