Blue skies welcomed Day Two of FreeSkiing World Tour Qualifiers at West Baldy. Eleven women and 57 men were cheered on by the crowd of spectators that made it up the mountain to watch these athletes prove why they should move onto Day One, the Semifinals, of The Subaru Freeskiing World Tour Championships.
Out of the long list of athletes, four women and 17 men made it through the deep cut. They will be joining yesterday’s qualifiers and pre-qualified competitors at the legendary Silver Fox for tomorrow’s Day One competition.
Australian native Natalie Segal took first with a 32.77, followed by Taos’ Katie Gillen with a 32.20 and Idaho’s Amanda Hale with a 29.17. For the men, Jackson Hole’s Topher Plimpton showed great maneuverability and finished with a 37.67; representing the east coast skiers, Mt. Sunapee’s Sam Webb came close behind with a 38.33 followed by local Colter Hinchliffe from Alta with a 37.13.
