Next Up

Please join evo in welcoming Bellingham, WA based Lars Sternberg and Portland, OR based Matthew Slaven to the family. Lars and Matthew will join evo’s group of sponsored athletes, artists and community leaders of the evoCollective. These two elite class mountain bike racers will join the likes of Chris Benchetler, Eric Pollard, Ingrid Backstrom, Lucas Debari, Kimmy Fasani, Austin Smith and more.

Lars Sternberg, a Transition, Smith, Five Ten and Troy Lee Designs athlete also has a deep local history, dating back to his connections with shops Fluidride & Big Tree Bikes writes:

“I am honored to have been offered a spot on the evo Collective program. The team has already made me feel at home, and with the addition of Big Tree Bikes in their service department it’s come full circle for me. This partnership is going to lead to some awesome opportunities to show people just how cool our sport is. We already have some sweet projects in the works, and I’m already looking forward to more!”

Slaven, the Devinci, Dakine, Bell, Smith and Giro rider had this to say about signing with evo:

“I am honored to be joining the evo team as one of their first Bike Ambassadors. Everyone I have met so far is very passionate and knowledgeable about all the products at their stores. I love riding all over the world and traveling, but my favorite trails are right here in the Pac NW. It feels good to team up with a Northwest company and I look forward to shredding with the evo Crew for many years to come!”

Lars and Matthew bring a wealth of knowledge to evo, along with a lot of exciting opportunities. Together with evo, the pair will work to grow mountain bike communities by encouraging participation and passing along years of firsthand racing knowledge in the local enduro race scene with their classes Wheelie Drops and Bunny Hops: Secrets to Staying Pinned with Matthew Slaven and Lars Sternberg in Seattle and Portland.

Along with racing the local enduro series here in the Northwest, the two will travel the world to race in events like Crankworx and the Enduro World Series. When they’re not attempting to pilot their bikes to the top of the podium, Matthew and Lars will be working with photographers and videographers capturing what they do best – pushing their 6” all-mountain bikes to their limits.
